The more I learn and grow as a professional and as a human being, the more I realize that photography is a creative endeavor touching every facit of life. I was born with an eye for art, and I've known (and my family and friends have known) that I would be an artist ever since I could hold a crayon! But just as important as natural, creative talent and observation skills are in capturing images, there is also a human element. The ability to interact with and understand people and to make them feel comfortable is a quality often overlooked when choosing a photographer.
I have been extremely blessed to have the life experiences and training that I've received that culminate in who I am. My parents and grandparents have always been extremely nurturing and open-minded in raising me. My mom and dad always encouraged me to do and be whatever I wanted and to pursue my dreams with total confidence. They also spent hard-earned money to send me to art schools, field trips, and even to visit Europe and live in Spain! These experiences have not only inspired me as an artist, they've given me an appreciation for life and helped me to relate to people with different personalities and from different backgrounds. So whether I'm doing portraits for an
engaged couple or shooting a fashion ad for a clothing boutique, I look at every situation from my client's perspective. If you hire me to photograph an event, take portraits, or advertise a product, I will take time to find out about you and what is important to you. I never look at a project as just "getting the shot." I want to communicate a message through images that is timeless, meaningful, and powerful.
In addition to art and photography, I spent 14 years working for advertising agencies as a web/graphic designer and art director. So I know the importance of meeting deadlines and being dependable. Since starting my own business I have been fortunate enough to have many great opportunities, including regular magazine assignments. I shoot editorials here in Austin, and I've had work published in Tribeza, Austin Monthly, bRILLIANT, Luxe Magazine, Rare Magazine, Jewell, Food & Wine, Nylon, and Texas Monthly.
